Are you looking for horse boarding in the Smyrna - Murfreesboro Tennessee area? I can help. I have a small farm between I-24 and I-840 and I will treat your horse like my own. At this time I have 0 openings. I always have openings for Mini's or IR Horses. (References available upon Request) I have very little turnover here (horses leaving) and my boarders love the care I give their horses.

If you need a retirement location for your horse it will get great care here. One of my current boarders and one of my past boarders live over an hour away. They love the care that I gave their horses when they can not be here themselves.

All horses are kept outside 24/7. We have small 2 and 3 horse paddocks where the horses are on dry lots (no grass) and have grazing fields they are turned out on about 4 hours a day three to four days a week in nice weather. In the fall we seed and fertilize our grazing areas and during the wintertime we rest our grazing areas and keep the horses off them. Most Tennessee Winters are muddy and by keeping the horses off the grazing areas we have grass all summer. We are in the process of building run-in shelters in our paddocks that will eventually be turned into stalls to put the horses into during severe weather.

All horses boarded here get the following care included with board at my facility:

  • Fed Daily Purina's Miniature Horse and Pony Feed, Purina Strategy Healthy Edge, or Purina Senior - We do not feed Cheap Feed
  • Good quality grass hay
  • Fly Predators are also used to keep down flies
  • Bi-Monthly Paste Wormer
  • Trims from Farrier (shoes are extra)
Barn

If you provide a blanket in the winter time your horse will be blanketed as the weather determines free of charge. I do not blanket unless it is extremely cold (usually when it is below 30), your horse is shivering, or if the weather drops more then 25 degrees in a 24 hour period. Older horses are blanketed when it is below 40 degrees to keep them from loosing too much weight during the winter.

I am 8 miles from Walter Hill Horse Trails, less than an hour to Percy Werner Park and about an hour and 20 minutes away from Natchez Trace Trailhead in Franklin Tennessee.

Many stables only offer 1 pound of grain with board. I offer up to 3 pounds of grain with board. I feel that board should include enough food to upkeep your horse if it is worked lightly. If your horse is a hard keeper or worked hard you will be required to purchase more grain and possibly additional feedings per day. With Purina Senior 5 1/2 lbs minimum is required to be fed. This is 2 1/2 pounds more than what comes with board. Up to 6 lbs of any grain will be fed at one feeding. If more than 6 lbs are needed than twice a day feedings must be purchased. Horses get between 1.5 and 2% of their body weight in hay per day year round. Any additional hay needed to keep weight on your horse will be extra.

I study Parelli Natural Horsemanship and I have currently passed level one and I'm studding level two. This is not a requirement for boarding at this facility but please understand that I treat horses naturally not harshly. Currently some of our boarders also study Parelli or Clinton Anderson. If you want to study Parelli with us we get together as often as we can and practice together. We now have a play day and cookout the first Saturday of every month.

I am a multi breed facility and believe horses are companions and no breed is better then another. We have Quarter Horses, Walking Horses, Paso Finos, and Miniature horses here currently. We also have several grade ponies boarded here that are just wonderful.

Currently I do not have electricity in the tack shed. I know this is an inconvenience but I have a flashlight to light it up after dark. The water troughs are filled every few days to keep the water fresh. I also have a small paddock for horses to be put in if they are hurt or need to be on a dry lot.

I want to thank Rusty Bane from Purina for coming out and evaluating each and every horse on the property. We did change the type of feed a few of the horses were getting and the amount of a few others but over all I was given a thumbs up on my current system. I will continue to invite him out on a regular basis to make sure all horses are getting exactly what they need.

I will attempt to work with anyone for any additional special needs that you or your horse might need. I have a BS degree from MTSU in Equine Science and I try to continually learn new and improved ways to do things. Just let me know what your needs are so I can come up with a reasonable plan to keep your horse happy.

I do have the capability to keep Insulin Resistant Horses, older horses, or horses needing some special needs. If you have one of these types of horses that need private paddocks please go ahead and contact me to see if I can currently meet your needs. I have several paddocks planned and can go ahead and get one finished if you need one.

I use a Natural Balance Farrier that works really well with all horses. He takes his time and does a great job. He has put a recommendation at the bottom of this page. You may call him and ask him any questions that you have about his methods or about my facility.

We use the Tennessee Equine Hospital which only works with horses and keep up with the latest horse care. They have a state of the art surgery center. They are a wonderful set of vets and will take the time to answer your questions without making you feel bad for asking. Our own "Little Ben's Bonnett" is currently their unofficial Mascot.

Testimonials

I am a past boarder with DaNel and I was always confident my horses were getting great care. She is very accommodating to her boarders and really works with each horse to make sure they are getting their individual nutrition needs met. Although the acreage is small it is well managed and rotated to give each paddock time to recover so that grass is always available. The arena and toys are nice to have and I would have no problem recommending this as a reliable place to have your horse. I moved my horse after 13 months, only because I found a place closer to my residence.

I have worked as the farrier for DaNel Resha for nearly four years and have found her to be very professional in all aspects of her business. She always puts the welfare of the horses under her charge above all else. She is very educated and knowledgeable about different types of feed, hay and other health aspects of horses. She also has a very good working knowledge of the horses foot and the care thereof. I would recommend her facility to anyone.

Other Boarding Places

I have looked at several other boarding facilities and Pasture board with only water supplied ranges from $250 to $500 per month. Hay, grain, farrier, worming, blanketing, holding for farrier, holding for vet, and anything else is all additional fees. You may look at my pricing and think I'm high but by the time you add all those itmes together you will see I'm a great deal.

If I am full please go to check out other boarding stables in the Smyrna, Tennessee Horse Farms and Boarding Stables guide on NewHorse.com.
