It is sad to say that one of the horses boarded here had an unexpected Passing. She has been missed greatly since her passing. I have asked her owner to write a Eulogy to honor her passing.
It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Generators First Score (out of Pusher's Big Score x Generating 'lil Delight) -- more fondly remembered as "Ruby". She was euthanized Friday morning, Feb 27th, around 5:15a. She had been transported to the TN Equine Hospital 13 hours earlier after showing signs of colic. After a necropsy it was determined that she had a twist in her small intestine. Ruby would've been 13 on June 15th.
To my eye she was not a beautiful horse, my heart learned she was honest and true. She was fine boned and had a rangy look about her. When I first got her, and she was learning to use her body, she was compared to a spider on roller skates.
Ruby was a typical mare in that she preferred to be asked and given suggestions, as opposed to being told what to do. She was very ladylike in everything she did. She chewed her apples and carrots and expected you to hold them until she was ready for the next bite, while the other horses swallowed them whole. Not particularly graceful on a trail, she would stumble because she was enjoying the scenery. She loved to be the center of attention, but never demanded it. She would stand for hours while you brushed her and braided her mane. She was the horse that would choose to hang out with the people rather than the other horses. One of her favorite positions was planting her forehead right on your chest and hoping you'd know to rub her under her jaws. ?Her head would get heavier and heavier and her mouth would loll open. The girl knew how to relax.
Ruby was different from Son in every way. That's probably why he fell completely in love with her. When she was out of sight he would call for her and pace until I would give her back to him. She wasn't quite as attached to him. In fact, I think he sometimes annoyed her with his attention. I am thankful he has other horses to be with at this time. I know he won't be fooled thinking any of them are Ruby, but I know the company will help. He's getting lots of extra hugs and kisses.
Ruby was a special girl and she will be missed.
